The southern part of Puerto Rico has been hit by a series of earthquakes this past week. We are thinking of the people of Puerto Rico as they deal with this incident, and we are closely monitoring the situation to see how it might impact our meeting next month in San Juan.

San Juan is in the northern part of the island and has not been impacted by the earthquake. The airport, Convention Center and other attractions in northern Puerto Rico are open for business and ready to welcome our group.

“This past week, we welcome nearly 56,000 cruise passengers into our San Juan Port, and we’re excited to welcome six more cruise ships this weekend,” said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico. “All flights continue to operate normally to/from the San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin, Ponce and Aguadilla airports, and all major hotels are operating normally. Taxis and ride share options are also available. The Ponce Cruise Port, the Puerto Rico Convention Center, and major attractions such as El Morro, El Yunque, San Cristobal Fort, including all areas around San Juan, continue to be open. Our beaches, natural attractions, restaurants and travel service providers are welcoming visitors and sharing Puerto Rico’s unique culture and warm hospitality.

“We stand with impacted communities recovering in the Southern region and are confident that Puerto Rico’s resilient spirit will shine through now more than ever. For the latest information and travel updates, visit DiscoverPuertoRico.com.”

ISASS has prepared a well-rounded scientific program on a variety of topics with varied learning opportunities, but our participant’s safety is our utmost concern and will be the basis for our decision-making process.

The Puerto Rico Convention Center and the Sheraton continue to host groups, and we look forward to being one of them the last week of February. If you are on the fence, we urge you to consider joining us.
