On March 6, ISASS sent a comment letter to the policy guideline entity, MCG on its Sacroiliac Joint Fusion coverage policy. MCG provides research and policy guidelines used by third party payers to determine payment and coverage policies. MCG guidelines are designed to be considered as evidence based.
ISASS sought to provide their coverage analyst with updated information on ISASS’ updated SI Joint Fusion policy statement and the ISASS recommendations for appropriate criteria for SI Joint Fusion procedures and criteria on non-surgical options for the purposes of developing coverage approval and prior authorization policies.
MCG acknowledged receipt of the input and indicated the committee would incorporate ISASS’ input into their current review, which is ongoing.
