ISASS asks members to submit letter to CMS

This is in regard to the 2020 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule, released by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on July 29, 2019.  Specifically, the proposed rule proposed a recommended work Relative Value Unit (RVU) of 9.03 of CPT code 27279, Arthrodesis, sacroiliac joint, percutaneous or minimally invasive (indirect visualization), with image guidance, includes obtaining bone graft when performed, and placement of transfixing device.  In the proposed rule, CMS indicated they were seeking comment on whether to adopt a work RVU of 20.00 which is the work RVU for CPT code 27280, Arthrodesis, open, sacroiliac joint, including obtaining bone graft, including instrumentation, when performed to achieve site-of-service parity and eliminate incentives for facilities to use a […]

Attention ISASS Members within WPS Medicare Jurisdiction: Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas WPS Medicare – Proposed non-coverage decision – DL35994 – Percutaneous minimally invasive fusion/stabilization of the sacroiliac joint for the treatment of back pain On April 1, 2015, Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS Medicare) issued a proposed non-coverage determination for minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion (MIS SIJ fusion). Advocacy Alert: New York Spine Surgeons – Action Required

To all ISASS New York Colleagues, Legislation is pending in NY that will require out-of-network reimbursement rates to be tied to properly established UCR rate calculations (as opposed to inadequate bench-marking information). The New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons (NYSSOS), together with the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY), is seeking advocacy input from all NY-based spine surgeons and related health care professionals, scientists and researchers.
