Inaugural ISASS Basic and Advanced Endoscopic and ASC-MIS Spine Surgery Cadaver Training Course a Success

Dear Colleagues, ISASS held its inagural Basic and Advanced Endoscopic and ASC-MIS Spine Surgery Cadaver Training Course in Phoenix, AZ, USA from September 11-14, 2014. Co-Chairs: Anthony Yeung, MD and James J Yue, MD Thanks to the dedication of the international faculty under the direction of course co-chairs James Yue, MD and Anthony Yeung, MD, the September ISASS course and cadaver lab was a success. Although the cadaver lab slots were filled early, we were able to accommodate all requests by adding observation-only attendees. Based on the attendee responses, evaluations and comments shared, we know that further courses like this are desired by spine surgeons. Planning for future courses is underway. Background The sacroiliac (SI) joints are paired diarthrodial articulations of the sacrum and ilium and serve as the connection between the spine and pelvis. The small amount of motion in the joint (2-4 degrees) occurs primarily through nutation and counternutation of the sacrum.¹ There are no muscles that cross solely the SI joint, thus there are no prime movers. ISASS Now a Member of AMA House of Delegates

Today after much hard work and diligence, ISASS was awarded a seat at the table of the House of Delegates (HOD) of the AMA. Gunnar Andersson, MD, PhD, ISASS President was handed a clicker and began voting on your behalf. “Today ISASS became a member of the AMA House of Delegates, this gives us a seat at the table of the organization that makes decisions at the [Current Procedural Terminology] and [Relative Value Scale Update] Committees,” said Andersson of this accomplishment.
