A Message from Prof. Jean-Charles LeHuec, ISASS President
Dear Colleagues,
I would personally like to invite you to participate in the Annual Conference of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery in Barcelona, Spain from March 20-23, 2012.
ISASS12 Highlights
The ISASS12 program will offer greater insights into the advancement of spine surgery than ever before. ISASS is not focusing only on motion preservation (as SAS in the past) but emphasizes: Cervical and Lumbar Therapies and Outcomes, MIS Techniques and results, Biologics, Biomechanics and Innovative and Non-Conventional Care. With over 370 abstracts presented over a three day period, you will receive a tremendous review of knowledge to explore.
The core principals of ISASS12 curriculum centers around our four letter logo for the conference:
C.U.R.E.: Care, Utilization, Research, and Education.
The conference begins Tuesday evening with the opening reception. The educational sessions of the conference begin on Wednesday and end on Friday afternoon. Here are my choices for some of the most innovative and interesting parts of the conference:
Symposia on:
- Navigation and Robotics
- Biologics Past, Present and Future
- TDR Evidence-Based Medicine, and
- Difficult Spinal Presentations: Rheumatoid Arthritis and Infection
Sessions on:
- Sagittal Balance and Deformity
- Cervical Complications and Cervical Trauma, and
- Biology and Biomechanics in Spinal Disorders
We have added more Oral Poster presentations and Thursday night we bring back the World Café discussion format on three topics:
- Interspinous Process Devices
- Degenerative Spondylolisthesis, and
- Complications in Arthroplasty
Friday morning we offer a cadaver lab that provides hands-on training to young surgeons with the best spine specialists in the world. This is a unique opportunity.
Each night we offer an optional networking dinner with your peers to discuss and debate what has been learned and more. This is a casual dinner at one of the famous Barcelona eating establishments that will connect you with other attendees and perhaps engender lively debate while you enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer.
Barcelona, the famous harbor in Spain, has seen unbelievable expansion over the last thirty years. This Catalonian city has very attractive museums and the famous Gaudí architecture. The immense selection of activities is diverse enough to please any sort of personality and the entertainment and dining options have grown in variety and distinction. The weather in March will be quite nice and enjoyable.
Barcelona is the perfect place in Europe for an international spine meeting with direct connections to all international airports. ISASS12 is waiting for your attendance, so join us for the most innovative spine meeting!
